This program offers graduate training in Persian language and literature. It provides exposure to major literary texts and genres and introduces research methods leading to independent work.
Degree Requirements
Course requirements
MA with thesis (30 hours):
- 6 hours of coursework in pre-modern literature;
- 6 hours of discipline-based coursework;
- 12 hours of coursework chosen in consultation with a faculty mentor;
- 6 hours of thesis coursework.
MA with report (30 hours):
- 6 hours of coursework in pre-modern literature;
- 6 hours of discipline-based coursework;
- 3 hours of coursework in Iranian or Persian studies;
- 12 hours of coursework chosen in consultation with a faculty mentor;
- 3 hours of report coursework.
Language requirement
- Advanced proficiency in Persian;
- Reading competence in Arabic equivalent to that achieved at the end of a first-year course.
